Story Plot:

Three different but related families face trials and tribulations in their own uniquely comedic ways. Told from the perspective of an unseen documentary filmmaker, the series offers an honest, often-hilarious perspective of family life.

Parents Phil and Claire yearn for an honest, open relationship with their three kids, but a daughter who is trying to grow up too fast, another who is too smart for her own good, and a rambunctious young son make it challenging.

Claire's dad Jay and his Latina wife Gloria are raising two sons together, but people sometimes believe Jay to be Gloria's father. Jay's gay son Mitchell and his partner Cameron have adopted a little Asian girl, completing one big -- straight, gay, multicultural, traditional -- happy family

It's tough to imagine an actor other than Ty Burrell stepping into the role of Phil. Phil's ideas and inventions on Modern Family are goofy and Burrell knows that Phil needs to seem silly but grounded in reality.

Phil tries to help his family any way that he can and he wears his emotions on his sleeve, which results in some of the best moments from the sitcom.

Eric Stonestreet as Cameron Tucker:

Cam's funny Modern Family moments make him a memorable and beloved character, and Eric Stonestreet gave an excellent performance.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Mitchell Pritchett:

Whether watching Mitch and Jay's Modern Family scenes or seeing his relationship with Cam grow over the years, Mitch is a sweet character and Jesse Tyler Ferguson plays him flawlessly.

Mitch is much more practical and serious than Cam, which sometimes causes tension, and Ferguson Brights a light-hearted quality to this character that is really nice to watch
